Welcome to the real world.....

So earlier this week I heard that Ashley Furniture was having their annual tent sale. I was pretty excited about that, because during the tent sale you can get really good deals. Being that we are closing on our house in just a couple of weeks, and that we need a place to store extra towels and sheets, we figured we should check it out.

The tent sale starts at 11 am every day. We arrived at 10 after 11. You'd think that would be a perfect time, right?

FALSE. Anything that we would have been halfway interested in was gone right away. How the tent sale works is, colored tags are put on the items for sale. If people see something they like they rip the tag off. Once the tag is gone, too bad.

It was an interesting study in human behavior, however. It is amazing how far people will go to save a few bucks.

Sorry I haven't had time to post much lately. I may not be around for the next couple of weeks either. We put in an offer on a house, and it was accepted last week! We close on October 6th and we plan to actually move on October 14th. So the next few weeks will be busy with packing, packing, painting, and moving. Forgive me if you don't hear too much from me. I will keep everyone posted with how the move is going.

So far the packing is going well. I have been trying to do a little each night. I plan on doing a lot this weekend. We are also going to the Ashley Furniture Tent Sale to find an armoire and a mattress for Emily's bed.

So, I'll let everyone know how it goes. Talk to you soon!

We got some good news today...

we are officially approved for a mortgage. Not just pre-approved, but approved! The bank has let us know that they are waiting on us.

We spent the weekend at my parents' house. It was a pretty good time. We went to the zoo on Sunday. It was Em's first trip to the zoo. She had a great time looking at all the animals. I'm glad I could share that experience with her. I always enjoyed going to the Sedgwick County Zoo when I was little, and I'm glad that she got to go as well. It really is a nice zoo for Wichita.

Most of you know that my mom generally does not cook. She's not a bad cook, she just doesn't do it that often. Well, over the weekend, she cooked for us. You've got to love her for trying. Saturday she made a meatloaf. A 3 pound meatloaf. The thing took 2 hours to cook. Apparently she forgot that the tomato paste she added would make the meat red. And she added the sauce topping about 45 minutes before she finally took the meat out, so that was kind of chewy. But you have to applaud the effort anyway.

My grandmother, her mother, was an excellent cook. I figure the cooking gene must skip a generation in my family. If that's the case, Emily has no hope!
